Recent home sales statistics from the MLS indicate that November showed a modest gain in home sales, but all other market indicators were down. This means the local real estate market remains sluggish and flat, with no significant change from what we’ve experienced for most of the year. This is further evidence that mortgage interest rates have not been reduced enough—or quickly enough—to spark a real upward trend in home sales.

Although inflation rates have come down significantly compared to the last few years, job reports still reflect a struggling economy. In the past, these conditions alone would have prompted the Fed to act in an effort to jump-start the economy by easing borrowing costs. Even though it may feel late in the game, we can only hope the Fed takes meaningful action with significant rate reductions without further delay.

Just a 1% decrease in mortgage rates could open up both the national and local housing markets, put hundreds of thousands back to work, and be a strong step toward making the American Dream a reality once again.

Below are the home sales numbers for October 2025.
